Planting the 4th Crop of Maize in Mdumezulu

The season of planting is consistently a highlight for us. Soil that has been properly cared for has been increasing in fertility and is literally pregnant with possibility. Add high quality seed at the right time, with sufficient moisture in the soil, and the result looks like a miracle – every time.

We are excited for this year’s crop. We have received a lot more rain to date than this time last year. Almost too much, though that’s difficult for a farmer to admit. We don’t complain about too much rain! The pictures speak for themselves. Each planting station received 500 ml of high quality, homemade compost. Those maize plants are going to be very happy indeed!

The purposes of this demonstration field are to proclaim God’s glory, train local farmers in Farming God’s Way, and to demonstrate what is possible using what we already have, while we work diligently and trust in God, the Master Farmer!
