A Report from Kijabe by Moses Gimbuya

Greetings from Tanzania and hoping that all things are well with you.

I am grateful to God for the opportunity he gave me to serve his people. My trip to Kijabe was safe and experimental with lots of new experiences. All in all when God gives us a new thing also he expects from us a new result too. Thanks brethren for your prayers and support to enable us learn this new method of Farming God’s Way. I give also special thanks and appreciations to Joel Zantingh and the EMCC for the sponsorship to this training. Also I give my appreciation to Daniel Wiens who introduced me to FGW and encouraged me to consider having this training in Kijabe, Kenya.

Farming students gather around the experiments at the Moffat Bible College which is situated in the beautiful Kenyan Rift Valley

The Training was held at Moffat Bible College in Kijabe, Kenya, a comfortable place with good weather very friendly to the learning process. Teaching methods were very simple and practical. The great emphasis of the training was Caring For Creation so that Creation may take care of us. This statement was very motivational since it refers to the Biblical Principles of Our God as a great Farmer.

This training was my very best training I have ever had because it blended all the aspects of a human life and centers Christ with his work of redemption of all creation. It was very amazing to see the Bible unfolding these truths. It was very practical and we learnt about soil composition and how plowing is destroying the soil. Everyone was motivated and urged to start with a Demo plot as a part of implementation process of this project. We had a wonderful time of learning how to grow a vegetable garden in a raised bed system, this was also very interesting and space saving.

FUTURE PLAN.
MIBOS works hard to make sure the poverty is alleviated from our community in Tanzania. FGW is one of the strategies that will help us accomplish our vision and goals. We will have our meeting soon to discuss of how we will together as MIBOS team make the implementations of what I have learned from FGW.

MIBOS soon will develop the work plan for FGW seminars plan so that from this May we can start preparing our MIBOS FGW Demo Plot and trainings for the groups of farmers and others who will be interested in FGW. The work plan will include a program for raising awareness of FGW to farmers group. Since it is a new method to our place, we will need individuals who will first receive this and then we can launch to the groups of farmers.
