Many people who experience a warm weather Christmas for the first time express how strange it feels to have Christmas without cool weather and snow. This will now be our fourth Christmas in South Africa. The kids (Jeremy and Abby) still reminisce a little about missing the snow, but I have to say, I don’t miss it at all. These kids do not have easy lives. Yet, these are the ones who have chosen to attend our after school children’s programs. They walk every day from school to Seed of Hope and they learn. They spend an hour in their class studying virtues and faith, doing crafts, learning English, developing life skills and participating in fun games and activities. Some have lost their parents. Others are abused. Some are very poor and often don’t have food in the house for 3 meals a day. Some even are HIV positive and take antiretroviral medication every day. No matter what they have faced, they still love to anticipate. What a gift that is! They haven’t become cynical and lost hope. I learn so much from these blessed faces. I learn to never give up and to live with the anticipation that God can do more that I can ask or imagine. I feel rich from the smallest smile and the most contagious laugh. But mostly I pray, that because of their participation in the after school programs at Seed of Hope, that they will grow up believing that they are special, and loved and created for a purpose. I pray their hope will never be stolen from them.

It is a day of fun and games and celebration. We celebrate these amazing kids and they bless us with their laughter and smiles. My cup runneth over!
